"My
concern is the statement that says "no increase in current property
taxes and master association fees". What about in the future. Will
these be increased to pay for this? My husband and I belong to a 24-hour
Fitness center which we have paid quite a bit for. We can use any 24-hour
Fitness within the U.S. We do not need a rec. center which we won't be using.
Any cost to us whether from property taxes or association dues is a concern.
I am sure there are others who belong to health clubs also. In our opinion,
it should be an individual's choice to pay for a membership at a rec./health
club at their own expense and not all of us to pay for its cost." |

"I
would enjoy using a convenient, well-equipped rec center. However, you are
never going to be able to please everyone. Personally, I couldn't care less
about the size of the pool -- as long as it's warm! -- but would like to
see plenty of (good) equipment and classes.
Others
want running tracks and climbing walls, which I think are silly given
that we have rocks and trails all around us. It's clear that some people
(the curmudgeons among us) are vehemently opposed to any rec center, but
I think we need one. What else are all these soon-to-be teenagers going
to do for good, clean, fun around here? A well-thought-out rec center
could provide limitless oppurtunities for "community" as well
as recreation. Good luck."

"I
am of the opinion that government should only be involved in things that
cannot be done by the private sector. Private recreation centers operate
for a profit and apparently do well judging by the number that are around.
For our
Metro District to build and run a recreation center is like the school
district trying to run a retail department store because the kids need
school supplies. It would be inefficient, and it would not work."

"If
the purpose of the recreation center is to provide opportunities for residents
to maintain their health and fitness, then its design should include a full-size
competitive (8 lanes, 25 meters) pool, not just a 4-lane lap pool, so that
local age-group and masters swim teams could be started." |

"I'm
all for the rec center; however, I am wondering if it will have a daily
day-care or off-track program for kids similar to the program in Castle
Rock." |
