South Park Public Planning Meeting (7-31-03)
The new park will be built in the area north of Castle Pines Parkway, from the CPN Community Center east to the Montessori School.]
All interested in helping to shape the final plans for the new "South Park" areinvited to attend a meeting on Monday, August 18, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., at the Community Center on Yorkshire Drive. This is the third public meeting, and Axel Bishop of Design Concepts, will be continuing the process of refining the amenities of the new park.
During previous meetings, issues of parking, dog areas, lighting, and road access for the approximately 20-acre park have been discussed. Based on questionnaires completed at the meetings, the following features have been requested for the new park: walking trail, restrooms, natural area/ open space, fields- softball/ baseball, fields- soccer/ multi-use, playground- tot/ teen, group picnic facility, dog park, water play area, basketball courts, pond/ stream, roller hockey, and community garden.
Most participants have caught the enthusiasm of the Metro District's hired Landscape Designer, Axel Bishop. Bishop's experience and creativity is on view at many local parks, including the Westlands Park just north of Greenwood Athletic Club on the west side of Quebec.
It's important to note that not all requested items will be built into the finished park. But Design Concepts and the Metro District want to know what you think. If you can't attend the meeting on August 18, visitthe website at www.dcla.net, and click on Castle Pines for an opportunity to share your thoughts!
Don't miss this opportunity to provide your input on CPN's newest park!
