Local Church Continues to Work Toward Permanent Home
by Lisa Crockett

On its website, Castle Pines Community Church (CPCC) is billed as “A Place To Call Home,” but the church still faces a long journey toward building a permanent home in Surrey Ridge.

The church, which currently has an attendance of roughly 150 members at Sunday services, has submitted plans to Douglas County for a 344-seat facility at 9009 Clydesdale Road. The church has encountered resistance from the surrounding community. Neighbors site concerns about traffic, lighting and drainage, though the site is zoned for a church of that size.

In compliance with planning regulations, the church has submitted building plans and traffic study information to Douglas County. “Plans with post-referral revisions were submitted to the county on January 7,” said Senior Planner Joshua Olson, the Douglas County staffer on the project. “We are reviewing the application now.”

Until the entire approval process is complete with Douglas County, CPCC cannot begin construction.
