Timber Trail Next World Language School Timber Trail Elementary (TTE) will soon be home to a new teacher, one who will introduce students to the study of a foreign language. Timber Trail will join Buffalo Ridge in being a “World Language” school, and will offer instruction in Spanish. “Details about what classes will be taught and what grades will be served by this program are still being worked out,” said TTE Principal Michelle Radke. TTE Tee Time It’s the final fundraiser for the year, and TTE is going out in style. Wednesday, June 4 at 8 a.m., TTE supporters and golf enthusiasts will be at The Ridge to show their support and have a good time. Call TTE for more information at 303-387-5700. “Our goal is to raise $10,000 for reading recovery and anything above and beyond that will go toward a rock climbing wall for the gym,” said Timber Trail Education Association President, Jill Buck. Farewell to Mr. Hall Known as “Brainiac Brian” to his students, Brian Hall has been Timber Trail’s science teacher for the past four years. Because of school growth and new programs, there is no longer room for the science program and Hall will move on to teach science to students in middle school. Regular classroom teachers will include science instruction in their classroom curriculum.
Need a Gift? Timber Trail’s gift card sales are going strong the effort has raised nearly $4,000 so far. Gift cards to area grocery stores and specialty retailers are available in varying denominations. For more information, e-mail ttea_scrip@comcast.net. TTE Boasts Super Spellers What’s the best way to become a good speller? Just ask TTE spelling champ Sara Cuny, the fifth grader who is this year’s top speller at the school. “I think reading a lot is the best way to learn to be a good speller, because you get to look at a lot of words,” said Cuny. Cuny and several of her fellow classmates participated in the school’s “Spelling Club,” facilitated by fifth-grade teacher Kimberly Jester, in order to prepare for the competition. Cuny’s winning word was “mesa.” |
