G. Lorenzen

Why do I want to serve on the Board of Directors?  I have spent most of my life in public service and have developed a wealth of insights in how government organizations function. I would like to make those insights available to the community by serving on the Metro District, a semi-city entity responsible for providing our water among other activities. Our water supply could put our home values at risk, so I want to assure that the Board of Directors focuses foremost attention on assuring that water supply and a positive public perception of it.

What qualifies me for a Director position?  I retired from the US General Accounting Office in 2001 after 30 years of investigating assorted federally sponsored programs from top to bottom for the US Congress. After analyzing program operations for Congressional committees and members, I made recommendations when operational improvements were called for in Federal agency’s oversight, national and local management or financial controls.

Before working for the government, I was a Lieutenant, then Captain in the Air Force for more than 5 years. I have Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of Hawaii and Midland College. I also studied accounting at the University of Colorado in Boulder for one year, and I worked for the RCA corporation in the New York City area and Marion, Indiana for two years.
