Living
with Pets in CPN - the resources and the skinny on this
topic. |
Missed
the chance to speak up? See
all the 'CPN Asks' Surveys,
go back and take a minute, and be heard!
Get
vocal. Participate - it is mostly painless. Tell us what
you like and what you don't and what we are still missing.
Give it to us straight. We can take it.

Have
a burning question you want to ask your fellow CPN residents? Send it in. |
Hey
local businesses - you want to ask CPN residents a relevant
question? We ask a commerce question each month as part of our
survey process. Send
it in. |

A woof
here, a yap-yap there, cat-doody in your flower beds, dog-doody on your shoes are you fed up with
sharing your world with the fur-bound and the people who "own"
them?
Or
do you feel your critter must be a "free spirit" to explore
the great outdoors? Resist leashes? Think barking is only a form
of communication? A cat must be true to its nature?
How
many domestic critters share
CPN with our families and will these relationships strain
the human ties with our neighbors? Thanks
to everyone who participated. Now the facts...

JULY
2001: |
Are
we "going to the dogs" and foregoing responsible pet ownership?
Here
are the results (through 4-23-02): |
I
want responsible pet ownership NOW - I am going nuts. |
(87%) |
Everything
is fine - what is all the fuss about. |
(<12%) |
Don't
care - It doesn't bother me no matter what. |

What
is the 'Outcome'? |
And
what you've had to say about it... |
"If
dog owners would clean up their pet's poop and prevent their dogs
from running rampant through our yards and gardens, we wouldn't have
a problem, would we? When your dogs are in my yard, they are my business." |
"I
never realized that we had so many narrow minded , intolerant people
living here. I would much rather see someone walking their dog, getting
some exercise that deal with the local rug rats destroying the pool
area and other fun things they do. Please, get a life."
"Dog
barking has become a major problem in this neighborhood. I wish owners
would fulfill their responsibilities by addressing the problem and
finding and fixing whatever is causing their dogs to bark so much." |
"I'm
a jogger. I've been attacked several times by dogs running at large.
And, I don't like having to avoid the poop on the pathways." |
"I
have lived here for over 10 years. I am tired of new people moving
in trying to tell us what to do! The dogs need a place to run also!
I feel the open space behind some areas dogs should be allowed to
run in. I also feel that it is not a dogs fault if an owner is irresponsible
and does not control them. Don't take it out on the dogs! Do we complain
about the howling coyotes? Yes barking dogs can be a nuisance, but
living with people can be a nuisance too! Learn to live with your
neighbors or find somewhere else to live!" |

"I
have three lines to my house and THREE "distance charges" each month.
You bet I could use that $36 for something else. Let me know if you
need my support." |

"I
have multiple lines and the base fees are, I believe, high. We are

Information
on how to handle Dog/Cat problems is on this web site at Living
with Pets.
We also need to address suggestions about trail pooper-duty and
how best to help keep the trails a resource. Please attend the August Master Association meeting and contribute.

To
all the people who took the time to express their thoughts - either
for tolerance to a particular lifestyle or calling for more personal
responsibility on behalf of our selves, neighbors and pets, thank
you for speaking up and having a voice. |
