Fire Danger

Hello Summer in Forest Park.

A couple of notes about dangers that we should all be aware of, this is a serious subject that everyone needs to help with.

1. Fire Danger
2. Fireworks

1. FIRE DANGER

Even when there is a lot of moisture in the forest, there is always a fire danger. Even after a rain storm.

Already, our forest is dry from the heat and winds of the summer. A spark or ember could be catastrophic for all of us in Forest Park. Please be aware of cigarette/cigar embers/butts that should never be thrown out in the open but put in a container inside your home or car. Smoking is not allowed on any HOA property, anywhere in Forest Park (including the open spaces, roadways, clubhouse, pool).
Any type of ember releasing fire place, pit, container, outdoor candles/flames, etc. are never allowed in Forest Park. Any type of Fire works are never allowed, even if legal in Colorado, they are not in Forest Park. The potential for damage or destruction to property and potentially lives is a huge liability if you choose to ignore the no ember releasing fire pit/place and no fireworks in Forest Park.

Know what to do in case of a home or forest fire. Homes and trees have been hit by lightning in Forest Park, an electrical wire detach was the cause of a forest fire that came within two blocks of Forest Park in October, 2003.....Know what to do/take/how to evacuate, where to go, etc. should we ever have to evacuate due to fire again.

2. FIREWORKS

Fireworks of any kind are not allowed in Forest Park.

PLEASE GIVE THIS MESSAGE TO EVERYONE THAT LIVES IN YOUR HOUSE, GUESTS/RENTERS, ETC.........

The obvious danger to all of us in Forest Park should be paramount. The danger of causing a fire by fireworks or an ember releasing fire pit/place/candles/flame and the potential Liablity to anyone that causes a fire in Forest Park could be huge. None of us wants to lose our homes, our forest or potentially our lives because of a preventable fire caused by fireworks or use of ember releasing materials in a fire pit/candles/flame etc.

Even if there are forms of fireworks that are legal in Colorado. They are not allowed to be discharge/lit in Forest Park, ever, ever, ever......... This includes the simple sparklers, snakes, ground fireworks...never allowed.

Please have everyone that lives in, visits your home know this. Unfortunately, last Saturday around 7:30 p.m. to Sunday, 4:00 a.m. fireworks were being set off by partiers, into and above the large open space area on the west side of Forest Park..(between Forest Trails/Havenwood)....this was a frightening evening and restless early morning for those that live near this area....

Immediately call Douglas County Sheriff Dept. NON EMERGENCY NUMBER 303-660-7500 to report discharge of fireworks in Forest Park, give them an exact or approximate area that the fireworks are being discharged (if you can't see it exactly). Please let them know that this is a heavily treed forest where fireworks are being discharged to get extra attention to your call. They will respond as quickly as possible to try to avert a forest fire here. If there is a fire, please call 911 and tell them that it is the western forest area of Castle Pines North.....

Everyone in Forest Park needs to be vigilant in keeping our community safe from a fire. Especially a preventable fire.....

PLEASE, Please, Please have everyone in your household/guests/renters read this and be aware that a couple of minutes of fireworks "fun" (or using ember releasing materials in a fire pit/candles/flames) could affect the rest of their lives (and ours) if they caused a fire, destruction to property and danger to lives......If you are going to be out of town and have someone staying at your home, or renters who do not receive our emails....be sure they know this information also.......

Thank You,
