Now, that girders for half of the new bridge at Castle Pines
Parkway and I-25 (exit 188) have been installed (the other half will be built in the winter), the next phase of the construction project is to form and pour the bridge deck.
This phase will last about three weeks, and most of the work will be completed at night with minimal impact to I-25 during the day.
There are no daytime lane closures for I-25 scheduled for the week of August 2-8 due to the International Golf Tournament.
The Castle Pines North Bridge was closed on the nights of Monday, July 27 and Tuesday, July 28, so that construction workers could install new bridge girders. I-25 traffic was detoured both north and south and vehicles had to be diverted off and directly back on I-25 via the on and off ramps at CP Parkway.
“The two nights of detours worked out very well, especially with the presence of two flaggers and four Colorado State Patrol Officers. We are planning to repeat the same process on the nights of August 1 and 2, from 11:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for deck work, however, there will not be a complete closure of all highway lanes,” says Nabil Haddad of the Colorado Department of Transportation.

Many CPN residents have been wondering why so many areas are being graded on the east side of I-25. All of the construction activity in the area east of I-25 and Castle Pines Parkway is related to the Bridge replacement project, not anything else, such as a home-building project.
What’s being graded and what’s coming in the future?
- The large graded area just north of Castle Pines Parkway is related to a future carpool parking lot.
- Other grading is related to moving dirt to and from locations needed for the Bridge project. The construction company is using grading routes that are, in some cases, related to new roads slated for construction in the distant future, including a new frontage road that will lead from the parking lot north into Lincoln. Also, the construction company is working along a line going east, which will many years in the future, become a road leading to Parker.
Construction on the Castle Pines Parkway Bridge (exit 188 over I-25) began on Friday, May 21.
The Bridge is being replaced with a multi-lane expanded one that will provide a new bridge over I-25 with two lanes eastbound, two lanes westbound, and a center turn lane. A loop ramp will be constructed in the southeast quadrant providing a direct movement from eastbound Castle Pines to northbound I-25, and the northbound off ramp to Castle Pines will be relocated to allow the loop ramp construction.
