"Let it Snow"...the Blizzard of '03 in Castle Pines North

"With my husband away on a business trip, it was up to my eleven year old son, Tom and I to keep the driveway free and clear of snow. What an endless and seemingly impossible task.

After shoveling snow one too many times, Tom and I set out for a short snowshoe walk and it ended up walking for almost five hours! We had a great time, though!

Got stuck in the snow a couple of times, lost a snowshoe here and there, watched the plows try to make headway on the Parkway.

Maneuvered through deep drifts to the only open gas station convenience store (Shell), drank hot chocolate, took lots of great photos.

Got wet socks and boots and switched mine with Tom so that he wouldn't suffer frostbite, and climbed up and over 5 foot snow piles to reach our street.

At times it felt like we were walking on the moon.

We saw a few people, but most of the time we were alone with the silence of snow falling and dreamy frost-covered thoughts.

When he's my age, I hope he'll remember the adventure he and his mom shared during the blizzard of 2003!"
