Castle An

For delicious sesame chicken, shrimp with lobster sauce, or beef with snow peas, you can’t beat the nearby Castle An Chinese Restaurant at 363 Village Square Lane.

Yong An is the owner and chef of this spacious eatery that offers dine-in, take-out, and free delivery.

A native of Korea, Yong moved to the U.S. in 1982 to join his father, who had already settled in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Yong worked at Chinese food restaurants until 1992, when he bought his own, which he operated until 2000. So, he has come to CPN with lots of experience, as well as many recipes!

Castle An took a while to open while Yong worked to build his sparkling stainless kitchen with lots of elbow room.  After years spent working in tight spots, “I wanted a big kitchen.” he says with a smile.

During the evening hours, Castle An employs about seven people including a hostess and drivers.  Although the take-out business is brisk, he is hoping to increase the number of people who enjoy the red-topped tables and shoji screens in the dining room. Yong asks that anyone who might have had slow service during the first opening months, when he was still staffing up, will give him another try.

Yong has observed that the residents of CPN seem to prefer seafood dishes while those in Cheyenne chose beef and chicken.  In general, “people in Colorado are more open-minded,” Yong says. “They’ll try anything!”

Although the restaurant business doesn’t allow for much time off, Yong enjoys outdoor activities when he can.  Fishing, hunting, and especially golf are among his hobbies.  “I’ve probably played 90 percent of the courses around here,” he says, before admitting to recently shooting a 74 at Raccoon Creek.

Castle An Chinese Restaurant is open every day from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., except on Sundays when it is open from 4 to 9 p.m.

Lunch specials, which include an egg roll and steamed or fried rice, are offered between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Visit Yong and his wife, Min, whenever you get the craving for fresh and flavorful Chinese food with no MSG.  For take-out or delivery, call 303-660-9884 or 660-9885.
