Laund-Ur-Mutt

, you can bring in your scruffy Ruffy and make him pretty-as-a-picture (which you can bring home) in no time!
Alan Brownstein, a Knights Bridge resident, opened Laund-Ur-Mutt 10 months ago in the Kings Sooper Center on Lagae Road.
The front of the store is the retail area, where high end pet care products are sold. Many of the products are not distributed to the chains such as Petsmart, because they wouldn't get the visibility needed to sell well. Avo-Derm, good for dogs in Colorado who suffer from dryness (Labs are particularly itchy, he says) as well as human-grade doggy treats, are available here. (The blueberry tarts are especially good for dogs with cancer, Alan says). Greenies (for healthy teeth), shampoo, leads, collars, toys, and special-order F.Y.D.O. (For your Dog Only) beds round out the storefront.
In back, a self-service pet wash lets dogs and their owners of all sizes find a comfortable tub. The water temperature is set by the staff, so there is no danger of getting burned. Aprons keep the owners dry, and a leash tethered to a concrete wall prevents escapes.
Or, you can let groomer Marcy Brakel shave and bathe your pet while you wait. Four different shampoos are available based on skin-type. A relaxing nap in the warm-air dryer, and your pup is ready for the optional piece de resistance: a digital photograph taken by Alan, with or without you in it! (Photos available separately).
Alans own three dogs, Kayla, Zoey, and Brady, are featured in the portrait studio, as are his two children. Jason attends Rocky Heights Middle School and Kelsey goes to Rock Canyon High. Wife Maria works at Sybase in the Tech Center. A former software developer for IBM and Qwest, Alan is enthusiastic about this new venture.
Bring your pup (or your cat or your guinea pig) to Laund-Ur-Mutt, 7280 Lagae Road, Unit I, 303-814-3126.
