Pilates in the Pines |

Pilates in the Pines is a retreat from the stresses of everyday life; a place to focus on wellness, relaxation, and building a strong and flexible body. Founders and co-owners Alana Norman and Cathy Bosson opened the studio more than three years ago to provide a place for local residents to become in touch with and to enhance their bodies, as well as to explore the potential for a more fulfilling and healthier lifestyle. “I come here because it makes me feel good,” said Castle Pines North resident Ginger Wilson. “I had serious back issues when I first walked through these doors. I come five to six times a week, and I no longer have any back pain. It is wonderful.” Located in the King Soopers shopping center, the atmosphere of the studio is not what one would expect to find in a commercially-zoned strip mall. Whether it is the natural wood paneled floors, the cascading waterfall feature, or the fragrance of aromatherapy lofting in the air, entering the studio is like crossing the threshold into a different world a world where the mind and body are in balance, and where cellular telephones do not exist. As the name implies, Pilates in the Pines specializes in the practice of Pilates. This innovative exercise system was developed by German-born Joseph Pilates (1880-1967). In his lifetime, Pilates developed more than 500 exercises, using both mats for floor work and unique equipment for resistance training. These exercises were designed to strengthen and stretch the muscles of the body, focusing on the core muscles of the torso and emphasizing balance, concentration, and breathing. In addition to Pilates instruction, Pilates in the Pines offers the GYROTONIC® Expansion System and GYROKINESIS®. Created by former professional ballet dancer, Juliu Horvath, this practice incorporates movement principals from various fitness regimes (dance, yoga, gymnastics, swimming, and tai chi) and focuses on stretching and strengthening muscles, while simultaneously stimulating connective tissues in and around the joints of the body. Like Pilates, these techniques can be done with equipment or with the body only. Pilates in the Pines offers private and semi-private sessions from highly-qualified instructors in both of these practices. Take a moment of a hectic day and schedule in some time for rejuvenation, relaxation, and mental clarity. Call Pilates in the Pines at 720-733-9307 or visit www.pilatesinthepines.com. |
