Record Drought Affects CPN
Effective immediately, all organized athletic activity is prohibited from CPN Metro District Parks. This policy falls in line with Douglas, Denver, and Jefferson County restrictions. No team practices, scrimmages or games are allowed at the Retreat, Coyote Ridge, or Daniels Park fields, until at least March 15.
The purpose of the ban is to hope for additional moisture that will help to protect the turf from extreme wear. If the crown of a blade of grass is broken off due to a combination of dryness and early use, it may not regenerate. Damage to the turf could very easily become irreversible. (2-3)
