Quick Response Leads to Arrest of Armed Robbery Suspects

The immediate response of the Douglas County Sheriff's office led to the arrest of two suspects who allegedly robbed the King Soopers at Castle Pines North. On Tuesday, January 8, at 7:40 p.m., deputies quickly responded to a 911 call on a possible armed robbery. Two armed men allegedly robbed the store and fled on foot.

While en-route to the scene, deputies observed a small gold sedan leaving the area at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was later re-located and stopped at Peoria and E-470. "Currency was taken from the store and was later recovered in the vehicle," said Sgt. Alan Stanton, Public Information Officer for the Douglas County Sheriff's office. Only one suspect was in the vehicle and he was arrested without incident.

Officers assigned to the crime scene in the 500 block of Castle Pines Parkway attempted to contact a possible suspect. Following a foot chase, the suspect fired upon the officers. Officers returned fire, injuring the suspect. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to Swedish Medical Center. A 45 caliber semi-automatic handgun was recovered at the scene. No officers or citizens were injured.

Thanks to everyone at the Douglas County Sheriff's office for working to keep our community safe.
