Rocky Heights Gold Team State Champs

The Rocky Heights Nighthawks Gold team was crowned the 2005 State Middle School Champions of Inline Hockey on Saturday, December 10th.  The Gold team, in an undefeated season, won the title from last year’s champions, ThunderRidge Middle School in an 8-4 win.

In addition to the championship title, the Nighthawks also received awards of recognition for two of their players.

The Gold team goalie, Graham Marshall, was awarded Most Valuable Player of the championship game.  Graham also won the skills competition out of six other goalies that were invited to the All Star Game.

Thomas Hernandez was recognized as the League’s Top Defenseman.  Hernandez led the Southern Conference in assists and placed third for total points scored.  In addition, he allowed the fewest goals scored in the conference.

The team sent four players, Thomas Hernandez, Graham Marshall, Max McDade, and Conor Reagan, to play for the Southern Conference in the All Star game.  The Southern Conference came back from a five goal deficit to tie the Northern Conference and eventually win the game in overtime with an exciting shoot-out.

We are very proud of our Gold club team for winning the State Championship.  Our Bronze and Silver club teams had great year as well, coming together as a team and demonstrating growth.  Thanks to the coaches and players for an awesome year,” said Gilbert Hernandez, President of Rocky Heights Nighthawks Hockey Club.

The Gold team is:  Collin Abitz, Sean Badali, Thomas Hernandez, JT Kiefer, Max McDade, Conor Reagan, Logan Riley, and our two goalies, Graham Marshall and Blake Landin.
