Castle Pines Community Church Seeks Permanent Home

Castle Pines Community Church has purchased 12 acres of land west of I-25 at Exit 190, between the Surrey Ridge and Oak Hills neighborhoods on Clydesdale Road.

Castle Pines Community Church was the first organized church group to operate in Castle Pines North and originally began meeting at the CPN Community Center in 1998. With 120 families as members, the church currently holds services at Buffalo Ridge Elementary School.

The 12-acre parcel purchased for a future permanent home, is zoned for agricultural development which allows a church with less than 350 members to be built. In order to build a place of worship that exceeds these numbers a special review permit from Douglas County is needed. This process involves public hearings that will allow residents an opportunity to voice concerns before a final decision is made by the Planning Commission and the Board of County Commissioners.

Before construction can begin, the church must submit a plan that is approved by Douglas County. The church has submitted one plan that needed adjustments. As of press time, the church was in the process of resubmitting the new development plan.

Some residents in the Surrey Ridge development have expressed concerns with the church building on this parcel of land. According to JoAnn Miller, a Surrey Ridge resident, the concern is for the stress the church could place on neighborhood water wells and roads.

Castle Pines Community Church Executive Pastor, Jack Estep assures that once a plan has been finalized with Douglas County, the church intends to meet with neighborhood HOAs to help integrate the church into the community.

Castle Pines Community Church has been an active organization in the CPN community. In the summer months they offer a Vacation Bible School for neighborhood children. On Sundays, the church offers two worship services and Sunday school is available for all ages.
