How Did Castle Pines North Vote on Referenda C & D in the 2005 Election?

Results have long been in on Colorado’s November 1st election for Referenda C and D. State-wide Referendum C passed, but D failed.  In Douglas County both referenda failed. Where do the citizens of Castle Pines North sit in regards with these referenda in the 2005 election?  CPN voted with a stronger percentage of “yes” votes on both issues than the State of Colorado.

With a total of 2,801 votes cast 55% of the citizens from CPN voted “yes” on Referendum C and with a total of 2,797 votes cast 52% of CPN citizens voted “yes’ on Referendum D.  (See the map and table located to the right to find out how each precinct voted in CPN.)  In comparison, state-wide 52% of Coloradans voted “yes” on Referendum C, and Referendum D narrowly failed at the polls with only 49% of citizens voting yes.

What do these Results Mean?

Throughout the coming year there will be considerable media attention as the state works on the budget and determines the specific allocation of the funds authorized from Referendum C for education, healthcare and roads.

Referendum D would have allowed the state to issue 2.1 billion in multi-year bonds to fund various projects if it had passed in the 2005 election.  Since Referendum D failed in the state-wide vote, the projects that were earmarked to receive funds will now be completed as funds are available.  The state will determine the priority in which these projects are funded.
