Slash & Mulch Program Open for Summer

Douglas County's slash and mulch program will be held each Saturday from June 4 through September 3, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The program is part of the County’s wildfire mitigation and recycling efforts.

There are two goals to this program. First, to provide a drop-off location for residents to reduce, reuse and recycle slash and mulch materials. This program will help lessen the fire hazards within the county. And, second, to provide free mulch to residents at the end of the season.

The drop-off is located at Plum Creek Wastewater Authority, 1400 Caprice Drive in Castle Rock. Acceptable materials include tree branches and shrubbery with a maximum length of six feet and a maximum diameter of 12 inches. All loads must be covered and tied.

Unacceptable materials include: stumps, roots, lumber, ties, grass, dirt, weeds, household trash or appliances.

Free mulch will be available for all residents at the end of the program, but a specific date has not yet been determined. When the date and pick-up location are official, they will be published on the
CPN website.

The program is a cooperative effort sponsored by Douglas County Government, Plum Creek Wastewater Authority, and the Town of Castle Rock.
