Due to severe and unusual weather in the Castle Pines North area, the estimated completion date of the new Castle Pines Parkway Bridge, and new I-25 on- and off-ramps at exit 188 has been pushed to July 8.
“This is not unusual,” said Nabil Haddad of the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT).
“In April we only had 10 work days due to the wet weather. Hamon Contractors had every intention of getting the entire project completed in June, but Mother Nature had a different plan.”
Until the project is 100 percent complete, there will be various right lane closures on I-25 in both directions. The closures will typically happen between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
There may also be Castle Pines Parkway and Bridge closures in June to allow for road striping and the removal of barriers. The Master Association will alert residents via e-mail and the CPN web site when definite dates are scheduled.
As soon as alignment striping, deck grooving, seeding, mulching, lighting, and signage placement are complete, all the construction equipment, construction signs and the trailer assigned to the project will “disappear,” said Norm Chiles of Hamon Contractors.
The project started in May 2004, and should end by July 8, with the exception of CDOT’s ability to leave the project in an open status for 45 days after the project’s official completion date.
“About 60 people work on this project on any given day,” said Chiles. “This includes state engineers, material testers, Hamon Contractors people, and sub-contractors.”
About 80 percent of the work on the project has been completed. The major pieces left are the northbound I-25 on-ramp, the southbound I-25 on-ramp, and the section of Castle Pines Parkway near the Bridge.
