The Castle Pines North swim team is gearing up for their summer league swim team which begins May 31st. Fifty swimmers signed up at the team’s open house held at HOA1 clubhouse May 7th. Registration will continue through June 4, 2005.
Under the management of Team Colorado, the goal is learn to swim effectively, be part of the team, and most importantly, have fun. This year coaches, Stephanie Coray and Lauren Smith, who have been with the team since the beginning, are returning. Derek Shaw will also join the coaching staff.
According to Coray, this is the largest team since 2003. Coray expects to have more than 80 swimmers this summer. This is the largest sign-up the team has seen since they began in 2003.
Swimmers must be age five through age fifteen; however, anyone who can swim the length of the pool and is under eighteen years old is eligible to participate. The swim team season runs through August 6, 2005. Practices are held Monday through Thursday. Children will alternate practices between the pools located at the HOA1 and HOA 2 pools. Currently, there are five meets scheduled. Two additional meets could be added later this summer.
