Sheriff Micheal Acree Takes New Position with State
|

Upon his state appointment, Acree said, “I am honored to have been considered and selected for this position.” Undersheriff David A. Weaver will likely take over Acree’s duties in overseeing the operation of the Douglas County Sheriff’s office. The office is up for re-election in November 2006. Under his new role Acree will work with divisions of the Colorado Department of Public Safety which includes the Colorado State Patrol, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, the Division of Criminal Justice and the Office of Preparedness, and Security and Fire Safety. Acree has served on many boards and commissions in his career with Douglas County. He is a current member of the Colorado P.O.S.T. Board, the Lottery Commission, the Colorado Auto Theft Prevention Authority as well as others. Acree graduated from the FBI National Academy in 1990 after earning a B.A. degree in criminal justice from Metropolitan State College of Denver in 1987. He is a 1972 graduate from Douglas County High School in Castle Rock and has made Colorado his home for more than 46 years. |
