The Cone Zone Has Moved!

Now that the construction on the Castle Pines Parkway Bridge over I-25 is complete, the “cone zone” has moved to other sections of Castle Pines Parkway and portions of Monarch Blvd.

The first construction zone residents will notice is part of this year’s portion of the multi-year Metro District Roadside Landscaping Improvement Project, which will take place in two phases.

The first phase began on July 18 along Castle Pines Parkway and includes replacing aging and dying shrubs in the medians that currently obstruct views for drivers with new, shorter shrubs.

Weather permitting, this phase is expected to take two weeks, and drivers can expect lane closures along the Parkway from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The second part of the project includes sections along Monarch Blvd., and will include the addition of trees and shrubs, low-water-usage grasses, and an irrigation system.

The second phase should be completed by the end of August.

For more information on the Roadside Landscaping Improvement Project, read the recently published article, Roadway Landscaping Project Underway, or contact Charlie Fagan at the CPN Metro District at 303-688-8550, ext.20.

The Douglas County Public Works Department will also begin concrete repairs to the northern portion of Monarch Boulevard.

The exact start date has not been determined; however, the Public Works Department hopes to begin the week-long project in late July.  Expect to see detours along Monarch from Castle Pines Parkway to the Daniel’s Gate area from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. during the repair project.

Drivers are encouraged to use caution when traveling in these areas.
