Median to Be Removed for New Traffic Signal
|
||||||||||
“The project will be completed in the fall, a little bit later than originally anticipated,” said Alex Larson, Principal Traffic Engineer at Douglas County Public Works. The delay is due to the decision to remove the median located south of the intersection on Yorkshire at the entrance to Royal Hill to make room for an additional northbound lane. Following the median removal, the underground work will begin, which includes adding conduit for the communication links and traffic signal pole foundations. “The work will consist of communications conduit installed along Castle Pines Parkway between Monarch Boulevard and Lagae Road, and traffic signal conduit around the intersection where the new traffic signal will be installed,” added Larson. Once the foundations are installed, the signal design can be finalized and traffic signal poles can be ordered. Douglas County has been working with the CPN Metro District on approval and placement of the new traffic signal. The County had to wait for permission to use the land for pole installation. CPN Metro District Parks and Open Space Manager Charlie Fagan said, “The County was seeking permission to use the Metro District right-of-way on the southwest corner of the intersection to install the traffic signal pole. The Metro District board of directors voted on June 20th to give the County use of this area.” For information about contact Alex Larson at 303 660-7490 or by e-mail at pubwrks@douglas.co.us. |
