What to do When a Solicitor Calls
|
||||||||||
Summer is here and along with the long hot days come solicitors canvassing the neighborhood. Residents in Castle Pines North can avoid unwelcome solicitors by simply purchasing a “no solicitation” sign and placing it near the doorbell. According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO), any person engaged in door-to-door selling of merchandise or goods in unincorporated Douglas County is required to register at the DCSO Records Unit. If a solicitor visits, ask to see the solicitor registration card from the DCSO. Make sure to keep a locked barrier between the solicitor and yourself. Violation of this ordinance is a Class 2 petty offense punishable by a fine of up to $600. Non-profit organizations are exempt from this ordinance. Remember to never do business with someone who shows up uninvited and offers to provide a service. Report any suspicious solicitors to the DCSO at 303-660-7505. |
