Meet Brian Stopps

Brian Stopps
by Belinda Paredes

Many interesting people call Castle Pines North home. In an effort to introduce readers to the remarkable individuals who live in the community, The Connection has created a new feature to spotlight a resident in each issue.

Brian Stopps has been involved in the CPN community since moving to Royal Hill in 1988. Initially he was involved with the HOA#1 board, and was a member of the community committee that formed when the first CPN gas station was proposed. Many in the community were concerned that the gas station would end up becoming a truck stop.

Stopps said of the situation, “I proposed to the developer that if he did not sell diesel fuel few trucks would stop, and the community would be inclined to accept the proposal." The Vickers gas station was approved and built soon after that meeting. This renovated gas station is now home to Castle Rock Bank.

After moving to Glen Oaks, Stopps became involved with his new board and managing contracts for the neighborhood. He then joined the Master Association Development Review Committee, serving from 2002-2005. This committee is responsible for ensuring the continuity of architecture and visual presentation throughout CPN. Many large projects occurred during his tenure, including construction of both grocery stores and multiple gas stations.

Stopps has decreased his involvement in the Master Association in recent years to dedicate time as an adult leader for Boy Scout Troop 316. This troop is active in CPN activities such as providing set-up and clean-up for Oktoberfest, concessions at the Summer Movie in the Park, and trash collection around CPN.

When asked why he has dedicated so much time to CPN, Stopps replied, “We have had plenty of opportunity to move to other places, both in Colorado and out-of-state, but this is where we’ve chosen to stay.”

Stopps has lived in CPN for 18 years with his wife Chris. He is a graduate of the University of Denver and owns a residential real estate appraisal company. The Stopps' have two sons, Will and Eric. Their family enjoys spending time outdoors and in the mountains, skiing, mountain biking, and camping.
