Master Association Safety Committee Gets the Green Light

by Terri Wiebold

More than two years of research, planning and organizing from the Castle Pines North Master Association Safety Task Force has paid off for the community. The long-awaited and much-needed traffic signal at the intersection of Yorkshire Drive and Castle Pines Parkway is now a reality.

The task force worked with Douglas County Traffic Engineer Manager Larry Corcoran to bring this project to completion. “We are grateful to Larry for working with us on this and several other traffic-related projects,” said Janet Conner, Safety Task Force Chair and Master Association Board member.

According to Conner, the County’s cooperation with the Safety Task Force was instrumental in achieving several improvements in the area of traffic safety. Some of the task force’s achievements include: removal of the berm at Berganot Trail at Tapestry Hills, thus alleviating a blind spot; installation of double left turn lanes at Monarch and Castle Pines Parkway; relocation of utility boxes causing blind spots at Buffalo Trail Road; and placement of “No Parking” signs along Castle Pines Parkway adjacent to Timber Trail - to name a few. “There are still areas of concern on Monarch the task force is addressing,” said Conner, “and we look forward to continued cooperation from the County.”

Special thanks to Janet Conner, Linda Nuzum, and all the members of the Safety Task Force for their work and accomplishments to improve traffic safety in CPN. Additional thanks to Larry Corcoran, Cindy Colip and Alex Larson from the Douglas County Public Works Department for their continued support of these projects.
