Master Association Hosts Wildlife Seminar
|
||||||||||
As a result of the numerous mountain lion sightings in the community, the Master Association presented, “Coexisting with Wildlife in Castle Pines North,” at the Community Center on July 18. Crystal Petersen of the Colorado Division of Wildlife presented common sense safety tips and simple guidelines for living among unique areas that feature a variety of animals to more than 45 residents. Douglas County Park Ranger David Hause also presented helpful information, and Sheriff Dave Weaver and Douglas County Emergency Manager Jamie Moore were on hand to answer questions. Castle Pines North is a unique community surrounded by more than 560 acres of open space and borders Daniel’s Park, Cherokee Ranch, the “back country” open space portion of Highlands Ranch, and the Glendale Farms open space. Wildlife commonly seen in the CPN community include: deer, elk, fox, coyotes, owls, hawks, mountain lions, bears, bobcats, raccoons, rattlesnakes and porcupines. The seminar also sparked the interest of YourHub.com, a web site and weekly section of the Rocky Mountain News. To read their in-depth coverage of the event click here. |
