- Map out a safe way for children to walk to school or to the bus stop. Do a trial run.
- Teach children to follow traffic signals and rules when walking or biking.
- Explain the importance of using cross walks and listening to crossing guards.
- Supervise children whenever possible, or arrange for them to walk to school or the bus stop with a friend or sibling.
- Teach children to not talk to strangers, go anywhere with them, or accept anything from them.
- Help children to memorize their phone number and address.
- When driving children to school, make sure to slow down in school zones and stop for all crosswalks.
