Congratulations to Rock Canyon High School’s Marching Band for winning third place at the Colorado State Fair. Save the date and make a date… homecoming is just around the corner. The dance is scheduled for Saturday, October 14 at 8 p.m.
This fall, approximately 14 girls from Rock Canyon, ThunderRidge, Mountain Vista, and Highlands Ranch High Schools will be competing in a brand new Highlands Ranch gymnastics program sponsored by Rock Canyon High School. They started training August 14 at Peak Athletics and began competing August 31st at Ponderosa High School. For many years, girls wanting to compete in high school gymnastics in the Douglas County School District had to drive to Ponderosa High School in Parker.
Two years ago, concerned mothers and Dave Callan, Douglas County Director of Athletics and Activities, began talks about the safety and length of drive to Ponderosa High School. After many meetings and surveys, this program was approved. It will be managed and funded by Rock Canyon High School and its Athletic Director, Bart Stevens. The coach for the program will be Emily Darte.
