“Great news on the Douglas County District Court’s decision to deny the Castle Pines Village motion to dismiss the CPN petition to incorporate! It’s a good step forward. Thank you very much for all the hard work that has been put into this rather large effort to keep CPN residents informed throughout the process. It has not gone unnoticed.”

“Dear Safety Committee,

Are there any plans to put a light or at least a crosswalk at Castle Pines Parkway and Forest Park Drive? It is becoming more and more precarious for walkers, runners and bikers to cross Castle Pines Parkway from the Forest Park neighborhood. Also, a light and crosswalk would make it safer and a more viable option for parents to walk their kids to Timber Trail Elementary.”

- Deborah Kerns Lynch

Dear Mrs. Lynch:

Thank you for calling our attention to this important safety concern near Forest Park. Since we received your letter, the Castle Pines North (CPN) Safety Committee Chairperson, Janet Conner, has been discussing the situation with the Castle Pines North Metro District Parks and Open Space Manager Charlie Fagan and with Douglas County Public Works.

Douglas County is very receptive when it comes to pedestrian safety, and the CPN Safety Committee will continue to try and reach a solution. Just last fall, traffic engineers for Douglas County made plans to install a pedestrian-activated crossing light and crosswalk on Monarch Boulevard, between Catarata Way and Serena Drive, for residents in the Daniel’s Gate area.

However, these issues often take time. We appreciate residents bringing these issues to our attention and we will continue to work diligently to make CPN a safer place to live. Watch for any updates at www.cpnhoa.org.
