South Metro Fire Rescue Acquires Land for New CPN Fire Station
South Metro Fire Rescue (SMFR) has acquired the land on the northeast corner of Monarch Boulevard and Hidden Pointe Boulevard. SMFR hopes to complete the new station by 2008.
by Terri Wiebold

The long-awaited new fire station in Castle Pines North is one step closer to becoming a reality. In February, South Metro Fire Rescue (SMFR) took possession of 1.5 acres of land at the northeast corner of Monarch Boulevard and Hidden Pointe Boulevard.

Although the appraised value of the land is still being evaluated and negotiated, SMFR has paid earnest money on the land and is in the process of applying for County approval to proceed with plans to build a new fire station on the parcel.  Given the remaining steps still anticipated before completion (final valuation of the land, County permitting, community information/input meetings), it could take another six months to a year to have site plans approved and to have construction begin.

According to SMFR Board of Directors member Michael Hunt, “We are moving forward with all appropriate diligence, while still complying with all necessary legal steps in the process,” he said. “As the process moves forward, we will make every effort to work concurrently instead of sequentially, hopefully expediting things.”

Continue to watch for updates on the new fire station at www.cpnhoa.org and in future issues of The Connection.
