La Noche De La Fiesta!

Spanish for “The Night of the Party”, the TTE Silent Auction, will be held on Friday, May 4 at The Marriott at Park Meadows in Lone Tree. Mariachi music will be provided by the Phil Trujillo Mariachi Trio and DJ Michael Collins will provide music for dancing into the night. Festive food and incredible auction items will make this a memorable night.

The price per ticket purchased on or before April 6 is $35. After April 6, the price increases to $40. Last year was the first year for the silent auction and it raised $30,000 for the school. This year, the school hopes to raise $40,000 which will be used for science and reading programs.

There is still time to donate to the silent auction. Individuals or businesses may contact Gretchen Harrison at gs_harrison@msn.com. For more information, visit the website.

Timber Trail Kids on PBS

On March 14, six Timber Trail students taped a segment for “Super School News,” on Rocky Mountain PBS, Channel 6. Students applied by taping themselves as news anchors and submitting the video for review. The selected students from Ms. Harrison’s fifth grade class, Emily, Gabby, Ashley, Larissa, Georgia and Amanda, reported upcoming news for TTE, including the silent auction, spelling bee, spare change drive, and the science fair. Way to go, “Super School Anchors and Reporters”!

Scholastic Book Fair Kicks Off with Student Awards

Marcus Camby of the Denver Nuggets was slated to kick off the Scholastic Book Fair on March 16; however, a family emergency kept Camby from attending. The kids, who were decked in number 23 garb, shouted, “that’s okay, Ms. Phillips,” when the news was announced. To thank the kids for being so understanding, each child received a free paper back book from the book fair and an extended recess with ice cream compliments of Ms. Phillips.

As part of the book fair kick-off, students were challenged to read for as many minutes possible in a one week period. Some students topped out with more than 1,500 reading minutes. Ms. Brandt, librarian, handed out awards to the top winners for each grade:

  • Kindergarten: Peyton H. (MVP), Carson M. (All-Star) and Spencer J. (Rookie)

  • First Grade: Blake F. (MVP), Daniel D. (All-Star) and Sahej S. (Rookie)
  • Second Grade: Jake P. (MVP), Tori G. (All-Star) and Christian B. (Rookie)

  • Third Grade: Tyler L. (MVP), Jameson Benson (All-Star) and Clayton N. (Rookie)
  • Fourth Grade: Logan D. (MVP), Josh L. (All-Star) and Alex M. (Rookie)

  • Fifth Grade: Odanis W. (MVP), Skyler A. (All-Star) and Allie Miller (Rookie)

Pillar Award to Ms. Brandt

Congratulations to Ms. Brandt for receiving the Pillar Award as special recognition from the district for her accomplishments as TTE librarian. Way to go, Ms. Brandt!
