Dog Waste Management Program Picks Up For Summer
|
||||||||||
With sun shining and warm weather upon us, local residents are enjoying summertime walks again. Four-legged, furry residents are trotting on leashes along trails and paths throughout the community. The Castle Pines North (CPN) Metro District will supply more than 30,000 waste disposal bags for this year, an increase from the 20,000 supplied in 2006. Thankfully, more residents are taking responsibility for cleaning up after pets and are using the dispensers. The CPN community has 15 dog waste stations located along 14 miles of trails. Additional sites are under discussion according to Charlie Fagan, Metro District Parks & Open Space manager. Each dispenser costs $150 and the district spends approximately $1,000 annually for bags. Noble Ridge East, Knights Bridge I and Royal Hill implemented a dog waste program for their neighborhoods. Serving 424 homes, the board of HOA1 will add additional stations this year to meet growing demand as well. For more information about starting a dog waste management program in a particular neighborhood of CPN, contact the Metro District at 303-688-8550 or email
