Local Churches Give Thanks, Look to the Future
by Lisa Crockett

Castle Pines North (CPN) is home to three churches. This new feature is designed to keep the community up to date on services and events in CPN’s faith community.

This Castle Pines Community Church meets at Buffalo Ridge Elementary. Services are held each Sunday at 10 a.m. and feature a mixture of traditional and contemporary worship. Executive Pastor Jack Estep describes the church as, “evangelical with ties to the Baptist tradition.”

The church offers programs for children, teenagers and adults, including weekday activities for elementary-school-aged children through high schoolers.

“We find ways to make God’s word relevant for living in today’s world,” said Estep.

The church is slowly making progress toward having its own building in Surrey Ridge, which will allow for expanded programming by the church. “It’s a slow process, but we are taking it one step at a time and we will get there,” said Estep.

Christ the King Presbyterian Church -

This church meets at DCS Montessori School. Family worship begins each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and includes Kid’s Church.

“We believe that worship isn’t a casual meeting, but a heart encounter with the living God, so we try not to ‘stress over’ things like style of music or style of clothing,” said Pastor Dan Weidman. “We want people to be comfortable coming to worship.” He encourages people to come as they are, with an open heart whether they are wearing shorts or suits.

The church offers Sunday school and youth group activities, as well as vacation Bible school, Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS), Bible Study and a men’s group called “Men of Significance.”

In November, the church will host its annual “Thanksgiving Eve Worship in the Round,” service, November 21 at 7 p.m.

Solid Life Christian Center -

Sunday services begin at 10 a.m. at Timber Trail Elementary School and classes for children are provided. “Our style of worship would be best described as authentic, real, and life giving,” said Pastor Russ Stutzman, who leads the church with his wife, Becky.

The church offers Sunday programming for infants, toddlers, and children. “U Turn,” a program that features live music, is open to middle and high schoolers and is held each Friday at the CPN Community Center at 7 p.m.

Solid Life often participates in CPN social events. “Solid Life has consistently stepped up to help with community events,” said CPN Master HOA event planner Carla Kenny. “They have sponsored events like Carriage Rides and the Easter Egg Hunt as well as provided concessions and fun activities.”

Solid Life will host it’s Annual Thanksgiving Eve Candlelight Service for the community on Wednesday, November 21 at 7 p.m. “Having a thankful heart is a great way to start the holiday season!” said Stutzman.
