City Council Meetings Continue Weekly
Upcoming City Council Meetings

Since being officially sworn in on March 10, the newly elected city council members have been meeting weekly to address matters in need of immediate attention.

Following their first meeting where the council adopted parliamentary procedures for meetings, appointed an interim attorney, clerk and mayor pro tem, the group has since established several committees.

Five newly established committees, led by various council members, include: a Land Use Task Force, an Economic and Business Development Task Force, an Xcel Power Line Committee, a Safety Task Force Committee, and a Law Enforcement Contract Committee.

At the March 26 meeting, the Council also passed the first reading of Ordinance 08-02, an ordinance of the City of Castle Pines North which adopts the Douglas County land use regulations on an interim basis. “This temporary ordinance will allow us to move forward with developments that are important to CPN, until we have established our own city guidelines for land use,” said Mayor Shul.

Upcoming City Council meetings are planned to be held weekly through May. Meeting dates, times and locations can be found at www.cpnhoa.org until the new city website is established.

All city council meetings are open to the public. Public comment is welcome
during the 7 p.m. council meetings. Future meeting dates can be found at:

Jennifer Havercroft - City Council Ward 1

First, I want to thank all the residents for their participation in this most recent election. We have a wonderful community of people who want to see us succeed, and I am honored and humbled to be representing us. I am really enjoying getting to know my fellow council members and feel that everyone is working toward the common goal of working for our new city. Besides City Council trainings and meetings, planning for a Child Safety Day for all of CPN residents is underway. Please mark your calendars for May 10th at the Daniel’s Gate Swim Club for this event. We hope to conduct a monthly Ward 1 meeting with residents. Look for details soon. Please don’t hesitate to contact me at any point with questions, comments, suggestions, or if you would like to volunteer for one of the many committees which we are forming.

Chris Dooley - City Council Ward 1

Hello friends and neighbors. I would like to thank everyone for their efforts and support during the transition of Castle Pines North and the recent election. It seems like the votes were counted just yesterday and already we have another election to think about. Congratulations to all the candidates for the Board of the Metro District. I look forward to hearing from all of you and wish you the best of luck. I am proud to represent the city as a member of City Council. I welcome your input and pledge to continue to work hard to represent the interests of our community.

Kim Hoffman - City Council Ward 2

I want to thank the residents of CPN for this once in a lifetime opportunity to help the new city build the strongest foundation possible.  The Council has been meeting to learn about ordinance codes, municipality, city liability issues and Lagae development.  The Council has been actively engaged in several RFP requests to obtain interim and future city services.  The first collective project that Council organized was obtaining financials from all the HOA’s to start the process of consolidating services.  This will be a lengthy process and in the near future will require the input of HOA Boards to assist volunteers Bob Hanak and Sandra Kip in the final recommendations.

The County responded to the City’s request to sweep the streets of CPN and completed the main arteries.  They are scheduled to accomplish the neighborhood streets shortly.  Jennifer Havercroft and I are working on the City Safety Taskforce with the lead volunteer Carol Langley from the Master Association.  The committee of 14 volunteers will be meeting in April to match experience with issues that need to be addressed.  The CPN library effort is also in need of volunteers. Please e-mail awalker@dclibraries.org for more information.

Chip Coppola - City Council Ward 2

My family and I are honored that I have been elected to serve on City Council and I thank the residents of Ward 2 for their support. I will always put the interests of the City and the residents above all else and commit to open, transparent, fiscally prudent and responsive government.

I would also ask for your support in my candidacy to the Metro District Board. I believe that having a council-member on the board will assist in an integrated and cooperative city/district approach to issues facing our community.

There should never be an “us versus them” mentality - whether the “us” is the city, the district, the HOA’s or whatever. It is ALL about our City of Castle Pines North and as long as we never lose sight of this, we will be fine. Thank you for your support.

David Neely - City Council Ward 3

To everyone in Ward 3, thank you for electing me to represent you. I sincerely appreciate the vote of confidence and will treat the responsibility with the highest level of integrity and character. And to all of CPN, I truly see my position as a strong steward acting in the best interests of the community.

As I have become more familiar with the newly elected officials, the main issues, and the various organizations who seek to add value to our community, I am completely convinced that the elected officials are working hard to ask the tough questions, seek the best solutions, and will improve CPN’s future. I have lived here 11 years and seek only the best for our community. I will represent you all wanting to leave a positive legacy, and to do that I will serve you all with tomorrow as well as today in mind…. For a leader’s lasting value is measured by succession.

Ron Clark - City Council Ward 3

Dear neighbors,

On the days leading up to and including February 12, 2008, the residents of Ward III honored me with their support. While I had the chance to meet some of you, I hope to meet many more in the coming months. Since February 12, I and all the other Council members have been hard at work, reading and studying and meeting with advisors and community leaders so that we will be as prepared as possible when we are sworn in on March 10.

By the time you read this, we will have had our first meetings and adopted our first ordinances and resolutions. We will have begun the complicated process of reviewing and approving the proposed Lagae development and will be working with the Metro District on a solid plan to solve our water concerns. Thank you for the confidence you have shown me and I promise I will do whatever it takes to preserve the value and uniqueness of our community. I invite your questions and advice and look forward to meeting more of you as time goes on.
