A Note from Mayor Shul

Dear Citizens of Castle Pines North,

While on the surface it may appear that not much has been taking place since we became a city, in reality it has been a non-stop flurry of activity. Your elected city officials continue meeting weekly to address the city’s business. The summary of legislative activity is now listed at www.cpnhoa.org.

Beyond putting into place the basic mechanisms by which to function as a city, meetings have been ongoing with all the entities involved with the soon to be developed Lagae parcel (south of King Soopers). Everyone is working together to ensure this development proceeds in the most effective and coordinated way possible.

We are working toward putting city management in place soon which is the next step in the process of moving our city forward.

Meetings between city officials and the CPN Metro District are taking place to forge a collaborative working relationship that benefits the entire community. We became a city by an impressive expression of public support to responsibly work together for what is in the best interest of our community. The citizens voted for and deserve an open effort of collaboration between our elected CPN government, Metro District, and HOA’s. The foundation of a strong and healthy city reflects the strength of the desire to find the common ground to work for the common good.

CPN citizens elect fellow citizens to sit on the city council, the Metro District board, and the many HOA boards throughout our community. As diverse as our backgrounds and beliefs might be, the success of our city is dependent on our forging a working relationship for the goal of moving our city forward in the strongest way possible.

The fear should not be in having healthy debate and difference of opinion as much as it should be in not putting the best interests of our citizens above all else.

We are a new city with all the challenges such change brings. Good communication, effective teamwork, and finding solutions are the natural results when people work together for a purpose higher than themselves. But by working together for the common good there is nothing we cannot accomplish.

I call on all CPN citizens to keep informed of the issues and get involved as much as possible, even if it is attending a council meeting once a month. Our city’s success depends on your voice and participation.

For Our City,
Maureen Shul
