RELEASE DATE: 09/16/08 RELEASE TIME: 1:30 pm CASE NUMBER: n/a
WHAT: Douglas County Commissioners Suspend Stage 1 Fire Restrictions for Unincorporated Douglas County
When: Effective September 16, 2008 at 1:00 pm.
NARRATIVE: DOUGLAS COUNTY: Recent heavy precipitation and future weather outlooks indicate the fire danger/hazard for the County has been lessened. As a result, the Douglas County Board of County Commissioners has ordered a temporary suspension of Stage 1-Fire Restrictions, which have been in effect since July 22, 2008. Unincorporated Douglas County is no longer under fire restrictions at this time.
Although the severe fire danger has temporarily decreased, we must all recognize that wildfire danger does still pose a threat. Sheriff David A Weaver reminds everyone to use caution when starting and extinguishing campfires, disposing of lighted materials such as cigarettes, and any other activities that involve the use of fire or sparks.
Information about fire restriction stages can be located at www.dcsheriff.net under the Office of Emergency Management page.
