Schools Action Committee
 
CPN is forming a Schools Action Committee to work with the School District on issues such as timing and attendance areas. If you wish to participate, send an e-mail to schools@cpnhoa.org or call 303-388-2437.
 
 

This year's kindergarten population exceeds the senior class by about 1000 students.
 
 

With all the growth to CPN and the surrounding area, what's happening about over-crowding in our schools?

Sites have been designated for new schools but there are no construction timetables, we are going to need community residents to push the School District on this!

School District plans call for another elementary school to be built in the CPN area, at Monarch Blvd and Hidden Pointe Drive. Construction dates have not been set.

The CPN Master Association has been working with the School District to plan out future park and recreation facilities for the community adjacent to the new school site. Tell me more about our parks and open spaces

 
       
  Highlands Ranch Open Space  
   

The "public hearing" signs seen along the northern section of Daniels Park Road are for the review of plans for the Open Space south of Highlands Ranch. There will never be any housing or commercial development in this area, but the Plan would allow public and recreational uses in the area immediately north of us (like parks, interpretive wildlife centers, museums, schools, libraries, fire stations, and other public buildings; churches; utility lines and facilities like a water treatment plant).

In the area immediately south of Highlands Rance (south of McArthur Ranch Road, between Quebec and Daniels Park Road), the County is planning a major regional park and the School District plans a Middle/High School complex.

There are no other specific proposals at this time for the area near CPN.

  
       
  New Elementary School near Castle Pines Village?  
   

Another Elementary School is being requested closer to Castle Pines Village. Contrary to the expectations from the early days of this development, the demographics of the Village include a large number of families with young children. Residents of the Village would very much like to see a school that is closer to home and this could help alleviate future overcrowding at Buffalo Ridge.

As a condition of approval of opening a new section of Castle Pines Village for development (CPV filings 27 and 28), the County is requiring that the developer dedicate a site for a new elementary school.

A specific location has not been determined. A public school cannot be located within the boundaries of Castle Pines Village because it is a private, gated community. The developer is therefore negotiating with adjacent property owners for a site suitable for a school.

The School District would still need to include this school in its long-term plans and budgets.

  
       
  Will we be a part of the proposed school complex at Quebec and McArthur Ranch Road?  
    The School District has selected a site for a new Middle School and High School complex near Quebec and McArthur Ranch Road. CPN residents would have access to this location via the new Monarch Blvd. Attendance areas for this school are not set but it is possible that CPN could be included. No construction dates are set.  
       
  New Meadows Elementary School  
   

A new Elementary School will open in The Meadows, near Butterfield park. This school will serve The Meadows and will not affect the Buffalo Ridge attendance area.
