What about our ever-changing commercial infrastructure is a welcome asset? What businesses would enhance our life here and would, therefore, be welcome additions to the CPN community? What are you looking for? What would you like to see? |
|||||||||||||||||||||
|
|||||||||||||||||||||
March 2002 : | |||||||||||||||||||||
What commerce is a plus? |
|||||||||||||||||||||
Here are the results thru 2-19-03:
|
|||||||||||||||||||||
And the suggestions you have...
2003: | |||||||||||||||||||||
2-19 | from a neighboring community's resident:
"I want a Home Depot and a Papa Murphys"
2002: | |||||||||||||||||||||
8-13 | from a Noble Ridge resident:
"Architecturally-appealing, coordinated, well-planned retail shops and central community gathering area in CPN. More of a village feel."
8-12 | from a Forest Park resident:
"Keep the quiet environment! One can drive less than 10 minutes for resturants and more services. Let's not turn into another Highlands Ranch!"
8-9 | from a HiddenPointe resident:
"Would like to see a Video Store such as Blockbuster, etc. King Soopers has a tiny video area and mostly DVD's."
8-4 | from a GreenBriar resident:
"I would like to see the properties hidden as much as possible. An effective way to do this would be to cultivate some of the bramble oak scrub brush that thrives in this area and surround the shooping locations with it. We have too many over sized and extremely exposed areas of parking space in the Denver area. We do not need more of that here!"
![]() |
To the GreenBriar resident: Agree with you. It would be nice if developers did not have a "corner-to-corner" scrape-off before they began their projects. The scrub the Kings folks removed, which was there longer than I am old, (and I am middle-aged), was doing quite nicely and did not require irrigation, to boot. The native grasses were also established and tolerant of living here without asking for help. I doubt the urban planting that is now there will be able to say the same thing. |
||||||||||||||||||||
6-13 | from a WinterBerry resident:
"We have enough nail salons, tanning salons, gas stations and dry cleaners. Can they all survive? I'd like to see anything but fast food and other chains. A nice sandwich shop, a small bookseller, and chinese food. I don't see the community really supporting the small family run stores that already exist so we're likely to just get the big companies that can afford to wait for more people to come."
6-10 | from a BristleCone resident:
"Rental Place like Blockbuster or Hollywood Videos."
6-6 | from a Kings Crossing resident:
"Bagel shop. Fast food with a play area."
5-15 | from a WinterBerry resident:
"A Hollywood Video store. Definitely NOT Blockbuster."
5-5 | from a Canterbury resident:
"Blockbuster video store. Also a Tony's."
4-29 | from a Kings Crossing resident:
"Isn't it ironic that so many of the same people who insisted on moving to CPN because of its awesome natural beauty (or was it just the prestige factor?) are the ones whining that they have to drive 10 minutes out of their way to McDonald's? Or that, God forbid, their BMW SUVs get dirty when they drive on Daniel's Park Road? If you wanted so much damn convenience and paved-over paradise, why didn't you just move to Highlands Ranch? Or Aurora? I realize that we're stuck with these eyesore businesses forever now, but I was perfectly happy to drive a few miles in exchange for an unobstructed view of Pikes Peak. Gone, all gone."
4-26 | from a Kings Crossing resident:
"...Chinese food..." | |||||||||||||||||||||
4-25 | from a GreenBriar resident:
"I
think that a small boutique store would be a good addition. There are already
too many liquor stores, tanning salons, and nail places in the area.
Why do the parking lots at super markets have to be so large. Aside from home depot or maybe park meadows during christmas...i have never had a problem parking in douglas county. How about encouraging less parking lots and more grass area between the store and the streets? especially here." |
|||||||||||||||||||||
4-24 | from a KnightsBridge resident:
"Hallmark, Post Office, Video Store, Mexican, Chinese, Boston Market"
4-23 | from a Stone Croft resident:
"I think a good addition would be an authentic Mexican Restaurant like 3 Margarita's. We could also use a nice gourmet type of food store like Tony's, Whole Foods, or Alfalfa's. Thank you."
4-19 | from a Castle Pointe resident:
"Pizza
Hut, library, men's barber shop with amenities e.g. massage etc. I also
like the idea of an artsy movie house.
More buffering so the businesses are less obtrusive in views." |
|||||||||||||||||||||
4-19 | from a BristleCone resident:
"I'm with some of you who speak of the added congestion of having too much commerce; however, it's inevitable so we should at least have our say of what will be crowding our land. We need a video store, stationery store, and exercise studio (pilates or yoga?). Please no more chains. I personally enjoy the more "small town" feel of our community."
4-19 | from a Noble Ridge resident:
"For those Friday nights, a good Chinese take-out place and a good movie from the video store(would be great to not have to drive 14 miles to return the video)."
4-19 | from a CastlePointe resident:
"...video store, book store..."
4-19 | from a Forest Park resident:
"A
Jamba Juice store would be nice. Also a good family run Mexican food restaurant
or at least a Chipotle Grill. I think a bicycle shop would do well.
I do think we have more than enough commerce space available in the area now. Other than the elementry school, we should not develop the site at Castle Pines Parkway & Monarch." |
|||||||||||||||||||||
4-19 | from a KnightsBridge resident:
"Definitely
a video store, library, and a Take and Bake Pizza place. A Drop-in Child
Play Place would also be great.
Please no more nails,tans, or liquor shops." |
|||||||||||||||||||||
4-19 | from a Retreat resident:
"Would like to see a men's barbershop in one of the three strip centers..."
4-18 | from a Forest Park resident:
"We
would like to see a gift shop (Hallmark), 5:00 to 5:30pm postal pickup,
vetinarian clinic, video rental store, Mexican, Chinese Restaurant, Club
4 Kids babysitting center. Anything but more nails, tans, dry cleaning and
liquor stores. Thanks for asking.
I think we can stop with the gas stations now. However, I do love the conveniences and the ability to come home so close and still see the wildflowers and deer in my yard. Seeing the service entrances to all the Village Center stores is a real treat compared to neon. To bad we got neon anyway, but we would never know what was in there without it. Would have rather seen the front in a more attractive manner." |
|||||||||||||||||||||
4-18 | from a Noble Ridge resident:
"How about a nice Dairy Queen. How a blizzard would be nice...."
4-18 | from a Retreat resident:
"We are past the point of no return. More car wash joints and Home Depot can't be far behind. Too bad because it was great without them!"
4-18 | from a Castle Pointe resident:
"Blockbuster Video, Good Chinese Restaurant, Garden Center, Gift shop, Mexican Restaurant"
4-8 | from a Hidden Pointe resident:
"Additional
fast food & restaurants. Subway, Chipolte, etc. Something other than
another liqour store, dry cleaning or nail salon."
|
|||||||||||||||||||||
4-6 | from a Forest Park resident:
"A video store!" | |||||||||||||||||||||
4-6 | from a Glen Oaks resident:
"Hallmark store, video store, Chipotle"
4-6 | from a Kings Crossing resident:
"Hair
cutting place like Great Clips, a dance studio, karate studio, gymnastics
studio, ie., "kids classes", good chinese food, toy store, child
care, pre-school.
I spend most of my day running around because everything is at least a 20 minute drive. Anything that would reduce my driving time so I can spend more time in our lovely community would be great!" |
|||||||||||||||||||||
3-24 | from a BristleCone resident:
"I'm
happy to see a Mail Boxes, Etc. come to the area. It is the pits to have
to go to Castle Rock to mail a package -- and I seem to mail a fair share
of them."
|
|||||||||||||||||||||
3-19 | from a BristleCone resident:
"I
would love to see a library in the area, and a video store."
|
|||||||||||||||||||||
3-15 | from a Noble Ridge resident:
"I think a medical office is needed."
|
|||||||||||||||||||||
3-8 | from a Castle Pines North resident:
"For those of our community that like traffic and numerous stop lights, pollution, noise, increased crime, loss of views, etc. all this commerce is probably a good thing. Now they don't have to look at all the wild flowers in the spring, and there are no more wild animals to spoil their day. They can now look out over concrete and neon lights from all the new businesses. I, in particular, enjoy getting up every morning for my daily walk and taking in a deep breath of diesel fumes. Wow! How refreshing! Please keep up the good work of selling out our community to the developers. You should be proud of yourself. All this for a few extra bucks of equity in your home."
|
|||||||||||||||||||||
3-6 | from Kings Crossing:
"If
we have to have all this "convenience," then I'd like to at least
see a few changes. Instead of two identical mega grocers, I'd much prefer
to see one of them converted to a Tony's or a Wild Oats. A library would
be wonderful, as would a Landmark Theatre and an independent video place,
as mentioned by others. And how about a book store? But please, no more
chains!! No more liquor stores, gas stations, nail salons, or tanning beds
(they're bad for you!) and their garish neon signs. And absolutely no drive-thru
fast food. Our exit has gotten about as trashy as it can get already. Now
how about something a little classier?"
|
|||||||||||||||||||||
3-5 | from Canterbury: | ||||||||||||||||||||
"I
would love to see some Chinese food, for take-out, and some healthy fast
food like the Kokoro Japanese bowl and Panera Bread. I definitely think
we need a video rental place and a movie house, as previously suggested.
Please stop the redundancy of businesses. We need variety, not the same businesses we already have."
|
|||||||||||||||||||||
3-4 | from Kings Crossing:
"Our
family, and many others I have spoken to, would love a Blockbuster, a Subway,
a mail box drop off, a Hallmark or card/gift shop, a dress shop ....anything
but a tanning salon, or a nail place. I think if we are going to have two
major grocery stores let's bring on the chains -- how about a McDonalds?!
We would love it, after all we are a growing community of young families!"
|
|||||||||||||||||||||
3-4 | from Kings Crossing:
"A Wish List? What fun! Polled the family, son wants a video store. A library branch from daughter. Hubby says anything except tans, nails, wines and cleaners. Mom thinks Landmark Theatres ought to put a nice small artsy movie house up there. Chez Artiste, Mayan, etc. are a hike and always crowded on weekends."
|
|||||||||||||||||||||
3-4 | from Knights Bridge:
"A
good video store--not a Blockbuster, but a non-corporate owned shop that
has independent films, along with a good selection of foreign films."
|
|||||||||||||||||||||
3-1 | Linda from Kings Crossing:
"A PO drop box that would routinely pick up at 5-5:30 pm each day - so that I would not have to make the trek to Castle Rock or Highlands Ranch to get something out at the end of the work day." |
|||||||||||||||||||||
3-1 | Susan from Claremont:
"My first thought is always to make it all go away, except the pizza, I really like that. So for a slice of good "pie", I apparently can set aside my personal angst." |
