with your neighbors in a community effort to donate lifegiving blood
for the Bonfils Blood Center. Bonfils is celebrating its 60th year
of saving lives in Colorado (and other areas in need). Last year,
the Castle Pines North Community proudly donated 23 pints in our
first mobile blood collection. The challenge this year is to reach
50 pints!

|
FACTS:
An accident victim can use 50 units of blood; a solid organ transplant
patient can use more than 100 units of blood, and some cancer patients
need transfusions weekly.
Whole
blood can be donated every two months, up to six times a year.
The
average adult body has between 10 and 12 pints of blood. After one
pint is donated, the body replaces the fluid portion within 24 hours,
the platelets within two days and the red blood cells within 56
days.
Donating
blood is safe. A person cannot contract HIV/AIDS from donating blood.
All supplies are sterile and are carefully discarded as they are
used.

What |
|
Don't miss the Annual Master Association Summer
Picnic for all CPN residents.
This year's Family Barbecue features Bennett's Bar-B-Q
with chicken and brisket with all the fixins'. There'll be lemonade,
soda, iced tea, sno-cones and beer. Schwann's will cool you off
with ice cream. Brownies and cookies will satisfy your sweet tooth.
When you are full, play on the playground, jump
around in one of the five air castles (one is for grownups!). All
the while, listen to the live music of the York Street Trio (a "high-tech
ensemble") who will play everyone's favorite dance tunes.
All
residents are encouraged to join their neighbors in this annual
community-building event.
