With
a sense of the surreal, not a thought climbs in your webmaster's
head beyond "What do you say to a month like September??".
We may not be New Yorkers and we are in our patch of the world but
we, too, are all struggling with making sense of the world and reclaiming
ourselves.
So,
"Is normal in our future anytime soon?" and what
you have had to say...

Is
'normal' in our future anytime soon?

"We
will be our own worst enemy if we don't carry on as normal." |

"I
don't think we will ever return to feeling completely safe in our
country or the freedoms we enjoyed before Sept. 11. For most of us,
an attack on our shores was unthinkable-we have forgotten what our
parents and grandparents lived through." |

"Just
the other day my husband and I stopped by Texaco to get a coffee.
Apparently, on our way out we walked in front of a man browsing the
candy aisle. We excused ourselves and got into our car. This man was
standing in the window, furious, pointing at my husband and motioning
him to get in the store so he could take him on. Now you tell me.....do
you think 'normal' is in our future anytime soon. We wonder how people
could do such horrific things to other people, like the most recent
tragedy our nation experienced. Well look at the angry response we
received just for interrupting a candy selection." |

"Probably
not in this life, which makes me so thankful for the promise of the
next one! We must turn to God if we want peace on earth and peace
of mind." |

"It
seems to me that I was an American on September 10th too. I think
taking stock of life goals, embracing the good in your neighbor
and family, being behind your country's ideals were valid and alive
before September 11th. The emphatic overreaction that I am now "less
of an American" if I don't plant a flag on my forehead strikes
me as oppressive and ludicrous. I was an American before and I am
one now. Sorrow doesn't change that."

10-8 |
"I
believe we will persevere and come out strong". |

|
|

|
|
|
10-7 |
"I
am sorry to see the attitudes shift from a kinder concern I have
seen recently back to the way it was before with a return of rude
and impolite."
