Martha Stewart Magazine for Kids:

Great Ideas for crafts, activities, cooking for kids--science projects, kid's rooms ideas and much more.

[I have five issues if anyone wants to contact me, I would be glad to share these ideas, print them if needed. Contact Natalie R. by email]

Family Sports Ice Arena

Now operated by the South Suburban Recreation District, this indoor ice rink is open for public skating every weekday from 10 to 11:30 am and 1-2:30 pm. Music varies, depending on who is acting as Skate Host. Big up-turned buckets help new skaters get around the ice. (Avalanche fans might get lucky and see the pros on the practice rink.)

In Englewood on Peoria, one block south of Arapahoe.

Denver Museum of Natural History

"Entertain your brain" at this interesting-for-all-ages museum. A T-rex greets you as you enter, then you can choose from the Prehistoric Journey, Hall of Life, Gates Planetarium, or other special exhibits. And don't forget the IMAX 5-story movie screen.

Call 303-322-7009 for times and fees. At 2001 Colorado Blvd in City Park.

From another parent, Natalie:
Great exhibit, film and hands on activities at the Chimpanzee Exhibit at the Denver Museum of Natural History.

[Article on the exhibit in the Rocky Mountain News, March 21. Telephone #: 303-322-7009.]

Dance

New Dance Studio In Town! Danza Dance Academy is opening in Castle Rock on Mach 3rd. It is located in the new Castle Rock Gymnastics building across from the Outlet Mall. Climb the Rock - Castle Rock's "Rock"

Not every community has its own landmark suitable for climbing. Castle Rock's rock is reached from Front Street. The parking area has a picnic pavilion, so you can make a nice outing of it. You can hike up the marked trail and rest at the top of the hill, or the really adventurous can climb the actual rock. On a clear day, you can see... pretty far. Free

Casa Bonita

Who wouldn't want to be chased around a restaurant by a gorilla after eating not-too-bad-Mexican food (served cafeteria style), watching gunfights, and being splashed by cliff divers?

Open daily for lunch and dinner. Best bet is to get there for an early lunch on a weekday for a table right next to the indoor waterfall.

6715 West Colfax Avenue. 303-232-5115

Archery Adventures

What kid doesn't love the whole bow and arrow scene? Archery Adventures offers 38 20-yard indoor shooting lanes, with a complete pro shop. Instruction available.

Located at City Center Marketplace, 490 South Chambers Road in Aurora. 720-747-8017.

Book Club For Kids

Ages 2-12 can participate in reading and interacting with books.
A great idea for off-track kids.
Meeting Place: Castle Pines Coffee Shop
