(May 2002)
As Qwest no longer has a monopoly on providing the telephone service for your home or business, other companies have started offering phone service in the Castle Pines North area.

If you have had used one of these alternative companies, this month's survey asks you to share your experience with your neighbors.

What is your experience with alternative phone companies?

Here are the results thru 8-8-02:
  8-8 from a KnightsBridge resident:
"Currently Qwest, I would be happy to hear about any other phone companies. My experience with Qwest has been ridiculous. Anyone out there with names of other companies? I'd appreciate it!"

  5-8 from a Retreat resident:
    "No alternate phone sevice used....

Mile Hi Telephone brags in its TV commercials. I called them and had my USQwest phone bill in hand. We went thru each item billed and compared USQwest & Mile Hi. NET?: Mi Hile is 1 penny cheaper....that's right 1 penny. The supervisor (who came online to talk with me) claimed (just like USQwest) that the distance charge is "mandated" by PUC. Absolute lie, according to PUC spokeswoman I talked with."

  5-8 from a KnightsBridge resident:
"McLeod. Same service since they use the same Qwest access lines. There is no distance fee. The special I received is that I have to also use McLeod long distance at $.05/minute on nights and weekends for $4.95/mth. Same deal as I got with MCI. I would recommend that residents that do not have any sophisticated phone needs (multiple lines, high-speed access, etc..) they contact McLeod and save the Qwest monthly distance charge."

  5-2 from a Claremont resident:

"I am behind the times, I thought Qwest was it, I 'd appreciate the information from other residents."

To all the people who took the time to express their thoughts - thank you for sharing and having a voice.
