Summary
of the Meeting: The County's May 3rd "Public Workshop" on Daniels
Park Road improvements attracted a large crowd of residents from
CPN and Castle Pines Village.
This
Fall, the County is planning to extend the paving on Daniels Park
Road about 1 1/2 miles further north, to end south of the hill below
Castle Pines Parkway. The County staff showed drawings of the preliminary
design work that has been done so far, and sought public comments
on the design.
There
was a mix of support and opposition to the plan. There were a lot
of comments and suggestions for changing the design to accomodate
concerns about speeding traffic, volumes of traffic, and impacts
on trees, wildlife and historic characteristics of the area. There
was also a suggestion to end the paving at the the Castle Pines
Village construction traffic exit instead of continuing north to
the base of the hill.
The
County will work with residents to consider these comments and create
the final design for this segment. They also indicated there is
a lot of work to be done before they finalize plans to bring the
road up the steep hill and intersect with Castle Pines Parkway,
and a number of options for the route of the road as it continues
further north.
